Browser extensions I shipped in 2024

It’s Blogvent, day 19, where I blog daily in December!

I have a handful of small browser extensions that I’ve shipped over the years! I don’t talk about them much, and realized I should more often. Here’s a couple that I made this year that have been particularly handy for me!

Copy mailto+

When I discovered the Indie Newsletters website, I loved it! But, I noticed when I hit the “Nominate” button on the website, it was a mailto link, and it pre-filled the subject and body of the email in the link.

I was annoyed that I couldn’t right click and copy the email, the subject, and the body all at once, and I was on a machine that didn’t auto-open the link to a properly set up email client.

And thus, Copy mailto+ was born!

It is very basic. It literally just adds to the little menu when you right click the option to copy all three things from a mailto link.

Remove Gmail Categories

I was annoyed (again) that even though you could disable the Social, Promotions, Updates, and Forums categories in Gmail, you still had them in the “move email” dropdown when you were picking a folder for them. I have kind of a funky system where the most important folders I want to move things to are at the bottom of my list alphabetically, so those options were getting in the way.

And so, I made Remove Gmail Categories!

It does what it says on the tin: it removes the labels Social, Promotions, Updates, and Forums from the Gmail Move dropdown.

And now, 2025!

We’ll see what I build this next year. It’s been great being able to use these tools to solve my very minor annoyances in the browser, and they’ve saved me time, too.

See you tomorrow!
