Updating my blog to use Astro Collections
, last updated onIt’s day 13 of Blogvent, where I blog every day in December!
My blog (you’re reading it!) is built with Astro, and has TinaCMS for posting content. It’s an open source template too that you can use to your heart’s content!
That being said, I have been doing a whole lot of writing lately, and not a whole lot of updating how this blog works. Now that Astro 5.0 is officially out in the world, I decided to work on some sorely-needed updates!
I’ll be pushing the updates soon after writing this post (because I’m still testing everything to confirm that everything is working as expected), but it’s been cool to (finally) learn the Content Collections API and learn about the new and improved Astro Content Layer.
Anyway short post today because I want to get back to coding and testing. Everything will look the same to readers, but under the hood it’ll be faster, cleaner, and more maintainable!
Update: It’s done!
I’m actually going to write a separate post about some technical nuances to know, but if you’d like to see what it took to update everything to use Content Collections and the latest stuff, this is the git diff for you to peruse.
Otherwise, if you’d just like to use the template, head over to the template repository and get started!
