I have become a minor writing utensil snob

It’s day 17 of Blogvent, where I blog daily in December!

I’ve been hand-writing a lot more lately. They’re mostly just notes for classes or task lists, but I’ve really liked having a bit more analog to go with my digital workflows.

And, as you get into a given thing, you may start to improve your setup for that thing… and now that I write so much more, I feel snobbery overwhelm me if I ever have to use a normal ballpoint pen or something now.

I’m not a hardcore fountain pen nerd yet but now that I’ve tried some nicer pens and pencils, it just makes handwriting that much more fun to do. When a given writing utensil just glides across the paper in a smooth way, whew, it’s so satisfying!

Anyway, here’s my lightly snobby list of pens and pencils that I’m using now. Not mega snobby, just lightly snobby. I am not a major snob with $500 pens, just a minor one that tries to keep things in the double digits or less.

…for now.

  • Tombow MONO mechanical pencil
  • Uni Kurutoga Standard mechanical pencil
  • OHTO MS01 all-metal drafting pencil
  • Kakimori aluminum ballpoint pen
  • LAMY Safari fountain pen (specifically the Pikachu one!)
  • LAMY Pico ballpoint pen
  • Sharpie S-Gel pen

If I were to go more snobby, I’d love to try out more of the Caran d’Ache brand, but we’re not there yet. And may never be!!

Let me know if you try any of these though. I have really enjoyed them!
