Coming up with blog topics

It’s Blogvent, day 16, where I blog daily in December!

It is hard coming up with blog topics. Especially when I’m trying to post every single day. I often just start writing, sometimes on my laptop, sometimes on my Micro Journal, and a topic will just… form.

This post literally started as:

I have no idea what to talk about today. Why is that?

It’s tough because I have posts I want to write about and put a lot of effort into, but when you blog daily, those posts feel a bit weighty for a daily post.

But, while I’m thinking on this, this is generally the framework I use to come up with blog topics:

  • What have I worked on lately/learned/tried that might be beneficial for people to learn about?
  • What opinions do I have currently that I haven’t expressed thoroughly?
  • What’s something cool I’m caring about recently?
  • What’s my strategy around a certain topic? (that’s this post!)

I think it’s so important to write. Even if you feel like you have nothing to say. You do have things to say! You can say those things in ways nobody else can! Don’t think about SEO, don’t think about getting every sentence to be perfect, don’t AI-ify your writing (I do think AI can be handy for outlining, but I loathe how it writes). Just write!
