I have become more of a writing utensil snob
It’s Blogvent, day 20, where I blog daily in December!
Last year, almost exactly a year ago today, I wrote that I was becoming a minor writing utensil snob.
Unfortunately for my wallet, I don’t think I can call myself a minor snob anymore. I’m approaching the big leagues.
I write daily in a physical leather journal (specifically from here that I highly recommend, I can swap paper notebooks in and out of it and it’s way more affordable than other leather journal brands) now. I have two, one more for day-to-day tasks and notes at my desk, and another smaller one for travel.
Last year I said, “I’m not a hardcore fountain pen nerd yet,” and now I have a literal fountain pen stand at my desk.
Here’s the writing utensils I’m now using (if you look at last year’s post, you can see which ones survived the year), in general order of how often I use them:
- Caran D’ache 849™ fountain pen (red)
- Kakimori aluminum ballpoint pen (black)
- Pilot Kakuno fountain pen (translucent aqua)
- Benu Briolette fountain pen (Starlit Oasis colorway)
- Uni Kurutoga Standard mechanical pencil
- OHTO MS01 all-metal drafting pencil
- LAMY Pico ballpoint pen
In addition to these, I have some nice accessories now like the Tohkin Metal Pencil Extender to use with my regular pencils, the Mitsubishi Pencil Co. KH-20 pencil sharpener, and I’m playing around with different erasers (the latest brand I’m trying is Milan).
I haven’t gotten deep into the world of inks yet. I am hoping I don’t have an update post again in the future. But you never know.
…I went in too deep y’all. It’s bad. But it’s so, so fun.
